Thanks to the “Holy S***” Moment

So this week in wind level we’ve been working ground fighting where the attacker is sitting over you and choking you. A very real attack for women…. its a” holy s***” moment type of attack. We worked on it in class on Wednesday and today Dennis made me teach it to Mike who had not seen it….. now I understood it as much as I understand anything (so not at all) . Also, I always have a hard time expressing through words what the heck I am talking about. Poor Mike. I basically made this “shhh” noise (which in my mind stands for release which I guess basically means let go of tension and “give in” to gravity… i think). Originally the shhhh noise was created by Dennis to make us bend/release our knees. Apparently, its stuck with me. I am unoriginal and use it for anything  and everything that needs a lil releasing.
Mike struggled some (most likely from my poor teaching and communicating skills). He notes that he has no place to go because he’s stuck between me and the floor. So I tell him to simply release into the floor…just go into the floor…. the solid object he is laying on…. in my mind one could just ooze into the floor as they were liquid.

So as mike struggles I’m just tossing the attacker off. Now that I’ve time away and processed this…. I’ve realized I may have left a piece of the puzzle out when telling Mike to release in the ground.

The puzzle piece: On Monday, I attended a LIVE seminar. There I learned you use the “holy S****” moment to your advantage. What happens when your grabbed or this case choked to your body- you tense up, & gasp a breath of air. Fear is a lovely thing- it gives you something to release.  So now that I have this “holy s***” moment, a breath of air in my lungs, and body tense- I relax/give in/release…. My shhhhh noises are actually me pushing the air out, deflating me, creating space. So I am not actually oozing into the ground as if I am liquid. I am creating space and moving into it.

Maybe being a woman and having these reactions pays off.  I don’t want to continue to get tense and try to fight this joker on top of me choking me…. ya right…. instead I give in and get out.

Thanks Mike for this learning experience………….

I also recommend everyone go to a LIVE seminar….. its many good laughs while learning some serious and awesome stuff!
